Arden Kirkland, MSLIS, MFA, CAS<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

I am an independent digital librarian, providing services for digital collections and online learning. As an Adjunct Instructor for the iSchool at Syracuse University, I teach courses related to information organization and access, instructional design, and educational technology. As a contractor for the Southern Tier Digital Equity Coalition I have become involved in Digital Equity planning for NY state. As Project Coordinator for the IMLS-funded Design for Learning program<\/a>, I led the development of a series of online modules about online teaching, released as Open Educational Resources (OER). My years of work in higher education have included a focus on students\u2019 active participation in the construction of multimedia digital collections. Other recent projects include web development in Omeka for ArtOneida.org<\/a>, the Hudson Valley Visual Arts Collections Consortium (HVVACC.org<\/a>), and for HistoricDress.org<\/a>. My development of a “Costume Core,” a profile for cataloging historic clothing artifacts, was supported by a grant from the Visual Resources Association Foundation, and relates to work in progress on the DressDiscover<\/a> visual worksheet tool. I hold an MSLIS from the iSchool at Syracuse University, along with an MFA in Design from Rutgers University.<\/p>\n
